Human Medications Treat Our Pets Too!

Apr 4, 2019Uncategorized0 comments

Did you know that veterinarians often prescribe human medications to pets? There are many human medications that are safe for use in our furry family members too. Anything from anti-depressants to antibiotics can be prescribed and picked up at a regular pharmacy for your pets.

Antibiotics such as Cephalexin and Clindamycin are human drugs used to treat skin and urinary tract infections in our pets. Prozac and Xanax are commonly used to treat anxiety disorders in dogs and cats. Even Viagra is prescribed for pets with heart disease! All of these and many more human drugs can be used in animals to treat their various ailments.

Although many human medications are used to treat animals, always check with a Telepaws veterinarian before giving any medications to your pet. Some human drugs can be extremely toxic to our pets such as Aspirin and Tylenol.

TelePAWS is now offering a subscription plan at just $20 per month. This includes 5 calls annually. We look forward to helping you provide the best care for your pet through high-quality online veterinary care at Telepaws. Thank you for putting your loved ones in our care!
